The day we met
“What’s your favourite colour?”
The first thing Emdad ever said to her
وَخَلَقۡنَٰكُمۡ أَزۡوَٰجٗا
“And We created you in pairs”
Surah An-Naba, 78:8هُنَّ لِبَاسٌ لَّكُمْ وَأَنتُمْ لِبَاسٌ لَّهُنَّ
“They are clothing for you and you are clothing for them”
Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:187بَارَكَ اللَّهُ لَكَ وَبَارَكَ عَلَيْكَ وَجَمَعَ بَيْنَكُمَا فِي خَيْرٍ
“May Allah bless you and send blessings upon you, and bring goodness between you two”
A prayer for the coupleTwo strangers became the beginning of a story neither of them saw coming.
Nervous, yet strangely certain, Emdad's opening question was the simplest one — “what's your favourite colour?” Sara smiled. “Red,” she said, then asked his in return. “Purple,” he told her.
A decade on, that first exchange still lives on in a ruby set into their wedding rings — a small stone to remember the first smile, the first spark, the first colour.
They have crossed oceans together, walked the path of Umrah hand in hand, and built a home filled with three small souls — Amanah, Ihsaan, and Alyaana.

To another ten years,
ameen.
